Can I use WD-40 instead of contact cleaner?

I recommend against it, because the electrical insulation(s) and other parts in the vicinity of the contacts are like to be plastics, organics, composites, that may be damaged by brake cleaner. So, unless you have a switch in a 100% ceramic housing, removed from the wiring, don’t do it.
